Built Together, Amazon’s “investment framework for communities where we operate data centers across the United States”, will add more than $1 billion over five years to existing community investments. The funding is organized around education and workforce pathways, energy affordability and water solutions, and flexible community funding.

The education and workforce pillar includes free community college degrees and certification programs. The initiative aims to connect more than 300,000 students to free degree access and train up to 100,000 learners annually through Modular Training Centers by the end of 2028.

The energy and water pillar will provide grants for energy efficiency upgrades at more than 300 schools and community buildings, as well as 30,000 homes. The upgrades are intended to reduce monthly energy bills by 20% to 40%.

Under the third pillar, local communities will direct millions of dollars each year toward priorities such as roads, parks, fire departments, affordable housing and food security.
